Talburt Animal Health Center sponsors a community Dog Jog annually to benefit the West Plains Cross Country and Track Teams. The Annual Dog Jog is a 5k fun run and 1.5 mile run/walk that has beed held every year since 2004. Approximately 80-85 runners, walkers, and their canine companions come out to have fun and compete in either event each year. The focus of the Dog Jog is to encourage physical activity as a way of life in both our patients and their owners. Awards are presented to the top 3 male and female runners in the 5k, the top 5 overall finishers in the 1.5 mile, the "top dog" in each race, and division awards in the 5k. Refreshments and door prizes are another part of the fun. Dr. Gunter and his wife, Alicia, coordinate the event, which takes place during the last week of May or the first week of June every year. Proceeds of the event are donated to the West Plains High School Cross Country and Track Teams to help with travel and other expenses.
